What is your intention?

What is your intention?

I started teaching my class, ‘Portrait From A Photo,' and I asked all my students this very question. It can relate to anything. Why are you working so hard? Why are you here? What do want from taking this class?

What is your intention?

We had fun drawing and working with form. I wanted to get everyone out of the mindset of what we see on paper and into a world of what's beyond. How do we portray atmosphere and dimension/3D on a flat surface? I wanted to think not outside the box but in the box. We traced over portrait pictures and drew things we didn't see. The rib cage, pelvis, bones are in there but we can't see them on the surface.

I want to free the mind of what we think of how to draw a portrait and into really, realllllly looking at the image. We look at friends and family members all the time but we never really look at them as if we were drawing their portrait.

In the class we will be studying anatomy but keeping a loose and fresh take on it. I'm excited to see what direction we will go in.

Peter it was very nice to have the chance to talk with you and see your work today. Could you let me know your next class. I just inherited a bunch of oil paints and have no experience with oil. Mostly pencil and color pencils.

Dear Peter, please remove my cell number from your blog site. It wasn't provided for public consumption. Thank you. PS please confirm
